I found myself watching Room Raiders (it's late and nothing's on, gimme a break!) and so many times on this show you see a guy go into a girls room and then complain about her having too many shoes and saying they can't have this girl because she's too "high maintenance".

First off...this girl did NOT have a lot of shoes from what I could tell. Secondly, since when does having a lot of shoes mean you're high maintenance? Thirdly, I am a firm believer that guys say "I don't like high maintenance girls" yet they really don't have any idea what girls do to get ready, how long or NOT long it takes and the difference between taking pride in how you look and being "high maintenance".

Eh, oh well.

Guys and shoes.. wtf?!?!!? They whinge we have too many, but then if we wear a pair they don't like it's the first thing they'll point out??? wtf?? why do you think we need so many shoes!

Yeah, it's pretty silly. I don't really see why they care how many shoes we have, especially if they're not paying the bills for them.

heh, if males are dumb, then so are women. You can't just say "males are dumb" just because of one thing. Thats like saying i think women are dumb because they dont understand guys need for video games.

To a certain degree "high maintainence" also has the connotation of "is going to cost me a lot of money" or "I'll have to talk to her all the time".

Though gussyin' up time is part of it as well =)

Right, but that is what high maintenance SHOULD mean. I mean, these are people that are about 20 years old, they're not talking about marriage, and anyway, since when these days are men the sole bread-winners? Not as often. So it seems like it really shouldn't matter UNLESS it's the whole "she's going to make me late all the time because of her and her love of the curling iron". I just think high maintenance is partly an attitude (those who like rhinestones on everything and buy pillows and sweatpants that say "princess" come to mind) and that how many shoes they have or the size of their cosmetics bin really says nothing about this attitude.

i don't even like shoes and i'm sure i have 15-20 pairs. you just hate to get rid of your black heels that you wear once or twice a year b/c you don't want to have to buy new ones next time you need them. i'm good at purging stuff i don't need from time to time, but some things are keepers.

This is a very good point. Women wear different dresses for different occasions and need shoes to match (guys may argue with this, just wear the same black shoes with everything!) and when we only wear shoes once or twice, it really is silly, if they still fit, to just throw them away.

My boyfriend says I have too many shoes, when in fact I don't. Actually, I'm in a bit of a shoe drought. I've been wearing the same worn out sandals since last year and I went shopping yesterday at MACY'S and couldn't find any! I think I just don't like the styles this year.

Men want us to be pretty, but also easy-going. They want us to keep our selves up and the house, but don't want us to actually be occupied with "work." And they certainly don't want us to bitch, but I can't help myself.

But I have to disagree on one point. (Most) men don't notice shoes. They sometimes notice your hair or a brightly colored top, but I've never had a straight guy tell me, "nice shoes."

That's true, though if you were wearing birkenstocks with sock with your cocktail dress...I think they'd notice...again, they want you to look NICE, they just don't care how we do it.

Blah, all this high maitenance crap. Listen, there are SEVERAL reason why a man would say that but it can also be reverse. Guys are also hard to please also when it comes to beer, video games, type of chair they sit in, i mean us guys need entertainment systems. To me thats high matenance too. Its not just attitude its also how much things do cost, i mean 300$ pair of shoes is nothing to laugh about(and believe it or not i have seen pairs that cost DOUBLE that amount, and women buy them for some odd reason, but of course guys buy crazy things that women dont' understand), and niether is a 450$ entertainment system. Thats a lot of money. On TV shows or movies or whatever it was you were watching they do that because its either supposed to be "funny" atmosphere, or show the guy as a "cynical sexist bastard."

But as for too many shoes, eh, i am a guy, and i have been guilty of keeping some of my shoes because they still fit, or i can wear them on trashy days, or whatnot. You do know women aren't the only people who accessorize ;-) Heh, one of my good friends has about 15 pairs of shoes, so TRUST me, its not just women that have "too many shoes" or are "high matenence."

This is my opinion of course, so you may trash it down if you wish.
